Our 2017 soccer season was very successful!

Under Coach Elijah Mwansanga’s leadership, we won 11 of our 16 games this season. He helped bring unity to the team and showed them what it was like to play as a unit instead of as individuals. His philosophy, Jesus first, then school, then soccer, was something all the players agreed with, and he helped to make sure everyone was on the same page. The captains he appointed, Nathan Kind, Ryan Charles, and Joshua Hood, share his vision for the season. With the help of these guys, Coach was able to pull skills out of the rest of the team that we had not seen before!

At the end of our season, we were able to participate in a tournament in Springfield, MO. Teams from as far away as Texas had driven up just to take part in it! After fighting hard, winning some games, advancing through the brackets, and becoming known as a team to be reckoned with, our boys placed fourth in the top bracket of the tournament. We were so proud of them! Coach and I also had the privilege of awarding Nathan Kind and Joshua Hood as All Tournament Players, basically the MVPs of the tournament. I was contacted a couple days later by a soccer scout who saw our team play and wanted to recruit some of our boys to play for his college with a full-ride soccer scholarship. This incredible season would not have been possible, however, without the hard work that Coach Jonathan Elliott put in last year. He helped build a foundation in every single one of the boys, and we are so grateful for it. I cannot wait to see how TDA’s soccer program is going to continue to grow! We are so proud of our team this year and hope and pray that we will only get better!

Blessings,
